Teodor (Fyodor Ivanovich) Jankovic de Mirijevo was the founder of the public education system in Russia. The reformatory activity of Empress Catherine II in the field of education system helped to attract leading specialists from Europe to Russia. One of them was a teacher of the Serbian Jankovic de Mirijevo. With experience in implementing educational reforms in the Austrian Empire during the reign of Maria Theresa, he made a significant contribution to the formation of the system of public education, developing the Charter of public schools and preparing a set of textbooks.
