Social functions of physical culture often analyzed in Russian and foreign literature. However, their description was not sufficiently systematized. А part of the social functions could escape the attention of researchers. The article proposes to use the sociological structural-functional approach as a system for describing social functions and identifying possible dysfunctions of physical culture. The use of T. Parsons' AGIL methodology allows not only to streamline the existing social functions, but also to outline the prospects for their development.
