It is argued that Russian philosophy can be conceived as a persistent tradition in spite of the fact that there are plenty of different doctrines which are essentially opposite to each other. The author claims that it is the specific style of thinking and the original manner of investigating philosophical problems that unite all the Russian philosophers. This style is described to prove that Russian philosophy is hermeneutic par excellence. There are four main characteristic features of Russian philosophy as hermeneutics: the notion of “Russian philosophy”, dialogism of thought and subject of research, conceiving truth ontologically, integral knowledge. These features are analyzed in the article.
