Th e article deals with the problem of functioning of textual inclusives in the discourse. All inclusives can be divided into two groups: one embracing quotes, quotations and reminiscences, allusion being a specifi c type of inclusive. Allusion is at the same time an inclusive and a mechanism. Th e article describes all stages of alluding mechanics, providing a detailed description of functions of both compound and allusion itself. As a whole, allusive mechanism leads to the text becoming more complex and sophisticated.
