The article deals with the phenomenon of the departmental periodicals of the proletarian sports society "Dynamo", which arose and became widespread in the USSR in the early 1930s, when it was the largest group of publications on physical culture and sports in the country. Based on the methodological principles of historicism, scientific objectivity and complexity, using historical and typological analysis as a key method, the goal is to recreate the history of the emergence and development of Dynamo publications, to find out the social and economic conditions for their existence, to describe the characteristic typological and content features. The source base for working with this extremely little-studied topic was the periodicals themselves, which were issued by various organizations and cells of Dynamo, and archival documents of the Central Council of the PSS Dynamo (in particular, the minutes of meetings of the Presidium of the Central Council and memoranda to them), kept in the State Archives of the Russian Federation. As a result of the study, the significance of the Dynamo press for the formation of the general system of Soviet physical culture and sports journalism and its role in the reorganization of the entire physical culture movement of the USSR in accordance with the decisions of the party and government were determined, as well as reasoned versions of the sudden cessation of the publication of all Dynamo publications at the end of 1933.
