This paper is dedicated to the analysis of Roman grammarians’ ideas on Latin impersonal passive. Being far from widespread, this grammatical feature was differently interpreted by ancient scholars. On the basis of the remaining grammatical works, so called artes grammaticae, the development of the idea of impersonality can be observed.
