An analysis is made of the possibility of a combined satellite experiment on measurements of outgoing radiation in the ozone absorption bands in the UV and IR spectral ranges. It is shown that measurements in the two ranges contain a large quantity of independent information concerning the vertical structure of the ozone content in the atmosphere. The accuracy of the determination of the characteristics of the ozone content in an interpretation of combined measurements is noticeably higher than the accuracy of conventional methods. The high degree of informativeness of the IR method with regard to the ozone content in the lower stratosphere makes it possible to leave out of the combined satellite experiment, without noticeable loss of accuracy, the long-wave UV measurement channels, thus greatly reducing the requirements on the accuracy of the formulation (or determination) of the aerosol optical state of the atmosphere.
