The aggregative stability of aerosil OX-50 sol in solutions of anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), is studied. An intense aggregation process observed in SDS solutions (10-5-10-2 M) is analyzed from the viewpoint of balanced surface forces accounting for hydrophobic effects. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
