Ground water of South Karelia was investigated by isotope techniques. The data concerning chemistry and isotope composition of water (δ 2H, δ18O), tritium (3H) and helium (He) abundance, isotope composition of uranium (234U/238U) were obtained. Groundwater is recharged with meteoric water and the estimation by tritium data indicates very high mean residence tune of water. Two objects are very interesting. Confined and brackish (1,3 g/I) water of the deep part of the Salma granitoid massif has very light composition of water δ2H= -124,0 %o russian source δ18O=-15,7 %, which corresponds with the climate with the average annual temperature of about -3 °C. Tritium is absent in water, rich isotope uranium ratio 238U/238 = 6,6 and increased helium concentration He - 4,8-10-3 06 % are obtained. All these data in aggregate indicate the significant age of water of about 10 kyrs. Against the background of insignificant changes of water chemical composition and well production visible dynamics in isotope characteristics is registered for chalybeate mineral water of the "Maitsialnye Wody" spa. In 1979-80 isotope composition of water was δ2H=-101..-112 %o russian source δ18O = -12.-13,4 %o, but by 2005 δ2H-100..-104%o and δ18O = -13,3..-14,l %o had greatly changed, the amount of tritium decreased to 3H] = 2-7 TU in accordance with its general decrease in global fallout. These data in total with those of uranium ratio 234U/238 U = 0,78-1,51 indicate to forming mineral water resources due to taking modern precipitations and their sufficiently fast meteoric water percolation in an aquifer.
