CSIR’s Vision 2030 focuses on driving scientific and technological innovations, promoting economic development, and fostering global collaborations to address pressing societal challenges. SPBUs, as a leading academic institution, likely emphasizes values like interdisciplinary research and international collaborations. In this collaborative research work, CSIR and SBPU have identified their complementary research strengths for executing studies in the area of Antarctic research.
Antarctic research is an important topic for both India and Russia. However, the logistic support and supply for the Antarctic stations, field bases and geological remote camps are executed through aviation transportation and ground logistics supply. Also, for scientific expeditions, investigators traversed through the snow-covered surfaces. Often, we have seen crevasses in the ice hidden with snow pose serious challenges in operations. Detection and revealing of this crevasses using signal processing and AI techniques would be the great input by SPbU and CSIR to the national Antarctic programs and international collaboration. It will drive scientific excellence, foster global cooperation, and create lasting benefits in terms of economic growth, technological advancements, and social development.
