The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on tertiary education. The academic community faces an unpredictable future and needs to design a flexible and resilient education system for on-line learning.
This paper discusses project-based learning as a method for maintaining collaborative e-learning environment in ESP teaching. The study suggests ways of using student-produced videos in the English for the Media classroom. Visuals have been an integrative component of English classes over the years as they can motivate students to become more fluent in English, to be more creative and to develop their critical thinking skills.
The experimental study was conducted in the spring semester of 2021 (February - May 2021). It involved 62 first- and second-year journalism students. The students were encouraged to cooperate in small groups (2-3 students) for making their video projects on the topic “Awesome solutions to reduce carbon footprint”. The paper analyses the findings of the study.
