In the present work fullerene derivatives (such as polyhydroxylated fullerene or fullerene derivative with L-arginine) have been used as modifiers and cross-linking agents for sodium alginate to get green polymeric membranes with tailored transport characteristics for pervaporation dehydration. The effect of carbon nanoparticles introduction on physicochemical properties of sodium alginate was studied by various physical and chemical investigation methods (spectroscopic methods, thermogravimetric analysis, scanning electron and atomic force microscopies, contact angle measurements and sorption experiments). The transport properties of membranes were investigated in pervaporation dehydration of alcohols.
