Towards a 'rule of thumb' for the wings of forbidden transitions

Abstract

Our calculations of dipole moments and potential energy curves lead to the conclusion that collision induced quasimolecular radiation can be understood in the two-level approach. Results leads to a simple rule for the formation of a satellite near the position of the forbidden atomic transition.
