The effects of perceptual set in sensorimotor domain were studied with the help of Müller-Lyer and Ponzo illusions. The results lead us to conclude that the strengths of Ponzo and Müller-Lyer illusions are influenced by distinct characteristics of visual processing at different levels of visual system. The results of the experiments also demonstrate the existence of illusory perceptual sets in the sensorimotor domain. The type of the illusory perceptual set was found to depend on hemispheric-specific mental representations, which are activated by the movements of the right and the left hand.
