Abstract

Short-lived exotic nuclei have been produced by projectile fragmentation of relativistic bismuth projectiles. The masses of more than hundred neutron-deficient nuclei, whose mass was unknown before, have been determined by using the Schottky Mass Spectrometry. This paper concentrates on nuclear-structure properties, which can be derived from ground-state masses such as shell effects, proton-separation energies and proton-pairing energies.
