Abstract
This paper provides the analysis of human resource development in companies of XXI century. Human resource development deals with the investments in human assets and return of investments. Thus the focus moves from human resources to human capital. Investigating human capital, scholars mark out three layers of employees such as core employees and two peripheral ones. Core employees are considered as most important for business maintaining and growth. The paper the analysis of core employees identification criteria. Based on results of empirical research the Core Employee profile is expanded. The Profile includes five groups of people abilities transformed in organizational capabilities. They are: learning, professional competence, synthesis, reflection and trust.
