The paper examines trends in the use of artificial intelligence technologies for news journalism. The axiological approach has been applied as a scientific framework. The axiological approach allows us to examine the additional value load created by artificial intelligence technologies in modern news. The empirical study tests the ability of the audience to determine the authorship of news materials generated by ChatGPT-prompt. The study verifies basic value arguments in justifying or discrediting the use of artificial intelligence in journalism, such as trust, emotionality, diversity, speed, etc. The main research method is a survey with a questionnaire (N=108). The main problems of using artificial intelligence technologies in news journalism and the associated risks of reducing trust in the media as sources of information are revealed. Empirical data collected through a survey indicate a relatively high level of uncertainty and inconsistency of answers, which corresponds to the initial stage of technology development.
