Abstract

This paper examines the 18th-century German Benimmbücher. The latter are considered the most important means of developing communicative behaviour by members of German language culture. As a means of influencing the reader, a situational model of their construction, targeting and argumentative tactics used by authors of the codes of conduct are analysed.
