The aim of the article is to define the core and essence of European identity and its prospects in the current Euro-integration process. The research methods are comparative analysis and constructivists approaches. The article deals with the issues of European identity construct, which is in danger due to Euro-zone crisis, growth of Eurosceptics and mainly Brexit. Identity develops throughout history and can’t appear suddenly or be created artificially. At the same time European identity has always been a subtle construct which was based upon European values such as democracy and human rights. But when European citizens are lack of security, ideals of European identity can be forgotten. Brexit has become a new factor for European identity which induces to its crisis, since it reflects the growth of Eurosceptic opinions. Now we can witness identification conflicts and identification crisis in the European Union which hardly can be overcome.
