The article is devoted to the issue of the appearance of a female uniform dress in Russia. Usually its invention is attributed to Catherine II, from whom a significant number of such items survived. In fact, the women’s uniform dress was first used in Russia by Elizaveta Petrovna no later than 1756. The appearance of the female uniform dress is associated with the fests of Russian orders (Alexander Nevsky) and the celebration of the anniversary of the coup that lead Elizaveta Petrovna to the throne.
