The article examines the transformation of migration processes in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The rapid development of internet technologies has facilitated the emergence of new phenomena, cyber migration and cyber migrants, which have become an integral part of contemporary migration dynamics. The authors analyze existing theoretical concepts related to the study of cyber migration, emphasizing their continuity with classical migration theories, and assess the relevance of applying these theories to modern realities. The analysis reveals that cyberspace, created by humans, serves as a direct extension of physical space. In contemporary migration studies, these two dimensions are considered as a unified “cyber-physical” space in which transnational migration evolves. By applying classical migration theories to new phenomena (cyber migration and cyber migrants), the authors conclude that traditional approaches are only partially suitable for analyzing processes driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Adapting the theoretical foundations of migration will require accounting for the specifics of the digital age, leading to the incorporation of new elements into analytical frameworks. Thus, the article highlights the necessity of revising traditional approaches in light of modern technological realities.
