Abstract

The focus of this article are the pragmatic strategies and tactics to be applied when quoting and making verbal quotes. The aim of the research is to show that citation and its verbal formalization in scientific texts (scientific linguistic articles) are closely connected and subordinated to the General strategies and tactics of the development of scientific research discourse. The initial theoretical provisions are the fundamental developments of the representatives of classical germanistics and modern scientists, devoted to the categories relevant to scientific discourse, namely: the problem of monologue / dialogicality of scientific presentation, assertiveness, discreteness of the information, argumentativeness, modes of truth and hypothetical evaluation. They emphasized adresate-focus (i. e. dialogue) metadiscursive units and their functional potential, affirmative scientific presentation, preferential use of modalities of truth and produce hypotheses. As an empirical material of the study, the language corpus created by the method of a continuous sample from the texts of scientific linguistic articles published in the specialized journal «Zeitschrift für germanistische Linguistik» in the period from 2013 to 2015 was used. The article contains the results of statistical processing of the language corpus. The following is a qualitative analysis of the language material. First, it discusses lexical markers the detection of the presence (for example, liegt vor) and neutral input quotes with siracusano speaking of the verb schreiben. Secondly, fixed a variety of ways to comment and evaluate the cited quotations. It uses lexemes with semantics of cognitive operations and mental activity; in particular, the following verbal lexical units were identified: zuschreiben, bezeichnen, verstehen, unterscheiden, hinweisen and others. The discursive space of the scientific text allows the citing author to enter into an internal dialogue with the cited author. This makes it possible to consolidate with the position of the cited author, Express disagreement, act as an opponent, criticize, Supplement, invite a potential reader to the discussion, convince the reader with his / her rightness / correctness of the author of the quotation / wrongness of the author, indirectly encourage the reader to continue his / her independent scientific search and / or implement other pragmatic settings. Lexical markers of modality are different in semantic content and pragmatic potential of the modal components. These are mainly tokens of confidence (wahr), doubt (wahrscheinlich) or potentiality (möglich). Regarding the means of grammatical plan draws attention to the features and limitations of functionality of imperative forms of verb past tense (preterit and perfect). In connection with the specifics of scientific communication and citation rules, these grammatical categories of the verb are used very narrowly, which makes them a subject of special research interest. Peripheral, the article also draws attention to citation contexts that contain a certain expressive component. The unconditional prospects of the sketch presented research is the expansion of the empirical database, the transfer of the used methods and techniques to the material of other types of discourse, the identification of the individual style of citing an individual author, The study presents an interesting experience of organic combination within one scientific work of the traditions of two major Russian scientific directions simultaneously - Moscow and St. Petersburg linguistic schools.
