This article is devoted to the issues of explication and the functioning of the main manipulative technologies that contribute to form a more friendly or aggressive tone of media messages, the purpose of which, respectively, is to highlight or discredit the positive image of Russia during the 2018 World Cup. The relevance of the topic is due to the global interest in the multi-vector problem of the love-hate image making of Russia in the context of modern globalized reality.
