Abstract
Scientific heritage of R.N. Popov remains relevant. As one of the patriarchs of phraseology, he determined the current prospects for its study. One of the dominants of R.N. Popov is a study of phraseology with archaic components. In modern Russian, especially in the Internet discourse, there is a revitalization of such archaisms. Internet users pay special attention to them and offer creative transcripts in the spirit of folk etymology. The article analyzes such material.
