As to the Soviet envoy E. Asmus, there is a firm idea that on June 15, 1935, for the first time from the Soviet side, he informed the Finnish leadership, that «in case of a military conflict in the Mainland Europe, the Soviet Union could be forced to occupy some parts of Finland». This statement means that precisely from this period the first serious threat of military confrontation with the USSR arose for Finland. Nevertheless, this view is not supported by the existence at that time of any Soviet aggressive plans, directed against Finland. Also, the «statement» of the Soviet envoy does not match the official instructions that Asmus received from Moscow. As a result, we can assume that the widespread information about Asmus «statement» does not correspond to reality and is erroneous.
