Abstract
The attitude towards geopolitics in Japan has changed since the 1990s. The main reason for Japan's aspiration to
study geopolitics is the changing political environment. The first catalyst was the achievement of the Japanese in
the research of English-speaking geopolitical studies. This research will present attempts to implement the
European theory of "scale geography" in Japanese realities using the example of the doshusei system, with an
emphasis onOkinawa prefecture.
