Abstract

The article deals with the sociolinguistic situation in Quebec after the Quiet revolution. The investigation proves the relationship between Anglophones and Francophones to be a vivid example of categorization within the opposition ‘self and others’ (friend or foe) accompanied by generalization and transposition.
