Abstract

The force resulting from the deformation of the body and directed in the direction opposite to the movement of particles of the body during deformation is called the elastic force. In elementary mechanics, tensile or compression deformations are considered. In these cases, the elastic forces are directed along the line of action of the external force or perpendicular to the surfaces of the contacting bodies. The paper discusses its main types and applications in mechanics.
