Abstract

Over against the tendency of many recent studies and commentaries to maintain that Israel’s deliverance in Judges is exclusively a function of divine grace, the present article argues that the terminology used by the biblical text and especially its literary structure single out the people’s repentance—expressed in renunciation of foreign worship—as a major soteriological factor.
