The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the terms «object», «object» and «thing» are actively functioning in scientific discourse, as well as the status of things in the space of culture. It is shown that «thing» is not only a linguistic category denoting objects of the surrounding world. The thing is in specific cultural and historical context and is a capacitor and a translator of the content of cultural experience.
