Peculiar vocabulary of Alexander Solzhenitsyn's prose is of constant interest for the researches. This article is devoted to occasional words in "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" and the problem of their translation into a foreign language, namely Slovak language. The author analyzes most typical features of Solzhenitsyn's occasional words, classifies them and outlines the tendency and principles used by the translators.
