Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the practice of using civic technologies as a tool for the development of democracy in the modern information society, to identify threats to information security to the state, society and citizens. The methodological basis of the work is a systematic approach, methods of analysis and synthesis, and comparative law. Main conclusions. The trend of distrust of traditional democratic institutions has accelerated the emergence of civic technologies. The civic tech ecosystem includes various services and tools aimed at developing civic participation in political and public life. It should organically combine public democratic procedures, direct representation and new forms of democratic expression. Political participation through digital technologies raises questions about the use of personal information and the protection of personal data privacy. Civic technologies are not neutral, they are based on certain economic models that should not lead to violations of human rights
