The questions of natural and anthropogenic dynamics of mires, their typology, synthaxonomy and flora of mires of poorly studied territories were discussed. Some presentations were focused on methodology of investigation of mire ecosystems, composition and structure of peat deposits. Results of paleoecology studies based on paleobotanic and palynologic methods using radiocarbon data were reported. Few reports demonstrated the results of mire restoration after rewetting. The new monography “Mires and peatlands of Europe” was presented. The participants discussed the idea of writing a book devoted to the Russian mires.
