«ВЛАС» И «У ТИХОНА»: СРАВНИТЕЛЬНЫЙ АНАЛИЗ.

Abstract

The article is devoted to considering the links between the essay “Vlas”, published in “Writer’s Diary” at 1873, and the chapter “At Tikhon”, which was not included in the final version of “The Demons”. As shown in the work, at the level of the plot “Vlas” duplicates the events of “At Tikhon”. The characters of Vlas and Stavrogin are presented as carriers of the idea of “the Russian people as a whole”. On this basis, the characters are compared, their actions and motives are analyzed. It is shown that in the image of Vlas two figures are emerged - the “victim” and the “tempter”; that Vlas as a type achieves salvation through the proximity of the soil and the tradition. The characteristics of the Prince, the hero of the unwritten novel “Envy”, as a prototype of Stavrogin are analyzed. Based on the ideas of G. Pomerantz and E.
