Description

The principal goal of the this proposal is to build a center where genetic and computer scientists, students, fellows and staff labor to develop, test, and apply innovative, computational routines for vertebrate genome assembly, annotation, gene discovery, functional imputation and translation to global heath and environmental well being .
The expected outcome would be as follows:1. Discovery of human genes that influence complex human disease including AIDS, hepatitis and Cancers; 2. Facilitation and shepherding an international community of scientists and student to sequence, assemble and annotate the genomes of 10,000 vertebrate species in five years 3; Development and dispersal of fast, proven, efficient, computational algorithms for genome assembly, annotation, interpretation, gene discovery and genome mining; 4. Application of genome technologies to assist in species conservation, specifically in Amur tigers and leopards; 5. Training of these technologies to student scientists.
