On July 1, 2021, Professor of the Department of World Economy of St. Petersburg State University Alexander I. Pogorletskiy took part in a webinar of the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) dedicated to the presentation of the book "Adapting to the Digital Trade Era: Challenges and Opportunities". The book was published under the general editorship of a former member of the JVI Council, Maarten Smeets, within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Program for the Development of Cooperation with Universities. Among the authors of the book is Alexander Pogorletskiy together with the head of the Department of World Economy of St. Petersburg State University, Professor Sergey F. Sutyrin. During the webinar, the participants discussed how the accelerated introduction of digital technologies will affect international trade and development, and what role domestic economic policy measures and international cooperation can play to ensure a more prosperous and inclusive future. In his speech Alexander Pogorletskiy focused on the tax consequences of digital cross-border trade on the example of the Russian Federation.
